Stewardship

A lifestyle of stewardship is:

  • A commitment to regular prayer, participation, and generosity.
  • Recognizing that everything we have is a gift from God and expressing gratitude.
  • Understanding that we are called to be responsible stewards of God’s gifts.
  • Placing our complete trust in God.
  • Sharing all of our gifts, especially those that mean the most to us.
  • Expecting nothing in return and recognizing that no gift is too small to share.

Stewardship is transformative; it changes the way we look at every decision we make. Stewardship is the fruit of a love that holds nothing back, living in full awareness of each other and going all in, no matter the cost. Once we allow God to truly take up residence in our hearts, we become so overwhelmed by His abundant love for us that we naturally join our lives with Him and dedicate our prayer, participation, and generosity to accomplish God’s work here on earth. Our generosity comes from within and is not motivated by external pressure or reward.

Stewardship is counter-cultural. While society encourages us to continually strive for more and more, stewardship helps us to recognize that we already have more than enough.

“What return can I make to the Lord for all the good he has done for me?” (Ps 116:12)

Prayer

We invite you to pray with us at mass on Sundays and Holy Days; to pray for our priests, our Bishops, and the Pope; and to spend time in Eucharistic Adoration. It is also a good idea to pray daily on your own time, pray before meals, and pray with other devotions such as the rosary that may help your spiritual life.

Full descriptions of the various prayer activities available at our parish can be found under the "Prayer" tab at the top of the page.

"Pray without ceasing." (1 Thes 5:17)

Participation

We humbly ask that you would consider sharing your time and talents with the people of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton in whatever ways you are able. The opportunities for participation in the life of our parish can be found under the "Ministries" tab at the top of the page.

"The harvest is plenty, but the laborers are few." (Mt 9:37)

Generosity

Tithing is generally defined as giving 10% of your income. Consider a tithing goal that represents:

  • 5% giving to your parish through weekly offerings
  • 3% giving to other charities in the community
  • 2% giving to the Archdiocese through the Archbishop’s Annual Appeal
  • 1% giving at your own discretion

Your financial support is greatly appreciated! We are very grateful for your commitment to our parish’s financial needs. Our parish is pleased to offer a variety of ways to give:

Our Parish Picnic is held each August and serves as the main parish fundraiser. You can contribute by buying raffle tickets or by browsing the silent auction called "Baskets and Bundles."

Consider attending our annual SOAR Dinner, which is an important fundraiser that benefits our school. Details will be provided in October each year on the school's Facebook page.

"No one can serve two masters; for he will either hate the one and love the other, or be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and wealth." (Mt 6:24)
